Hey there!

My name is Katie and I'm a teen entrepreneur. I am the founder of Hooked ~ Katie's Custom Crochet. This is the story of my journey to where I am today.

When I was nine years old, I picked up a hook and yarn together for the first time. After I got the hang of crochet, I was hooked! When I was around ten, I participated in a craft sale and sold some of my crocheted hats and scarves to donate to a ministry called Voice of the Martyrs (VOM) to build wells for people in Bangladesh. I soon realized how much people enjoyed my handmade products, especially in the winter. I began expanding my knowledge of crochet by taking a crochet class, reading books, and learning from others.

At age eleven, I had so much passion for crochet that I decided I wanted to teach a crochet class so that other girls could learn how to crochet, too. With my younger sister co-teaching, we taught it at our homeschool group every week. Emma also loves crocheting and has opened up her own business, Emma's Eatery in which she sells crocheted food.

Recently, I took an entrepreneur class. Soon after I started taking it, Hooked ~ Katie's Custom Crochet was born. I learned how to design this website, design a business card, reasonably price my products while still earning money, keep records and more. I have learned so much from the class. My favorite things to crochet are Baby Boots (they're so cute and easy to make!) and ruffle scarves made from Red Heart Boutique Sashay yarn. I also like trying out new patterns and creating my own designs for crochet.
